Terms of Service
Last updated 3 July 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Adduce, including the Adduce command-line tool, daemon, website at adduce.dev, and the hosted API (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Holonomy Securities (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
Adduce examines the factual claims in your writing and reports which of them are supported by sources, together with the evidence it found. It is an assistive tool. It does not replace your own judgement, professional advice, or independent verification. You are responsible for the accuracy of anything you publish, and for how you use the Service’s output.
3. Accounts
You must provide a valid email address and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, to use the Service.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, or infringe the rights of others, when using the Service;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems;
- probe, scan, or overload the Service, or circumvent its rate limits or usage caps;
- resell or redistribute the hosted API without our written permission;
- use the Service to generate or launder deliberately false or misleading claims.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules, or that put the Service or other users at risk.
5. Subscriptions, trials, and billing
Adduce offers free and paid tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe on a recurring basis until cancelled. New accounts may receive a time-limited Pro trial that converts to a paid subscription only if you add a payment method; otherwise it reverts to the free tier when the trial ends.
You may cancel at any time through the customer portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and access continues until then. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change prices with reasonable notice, effective at your next renewal.
6. Your content
You retain all rights to the text you submit for checking. You grant us only the limited licence needed to operate the Service: to process your text, return results, and keep the records tied to your account. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train models. The downloadable Adduce tool runs its analysis on your own machine; text you check locally does not leave your device unless you use the hosted API.
We may generate and use aggregated, de-identified data and usage statistics that neither identify you nor reveal your content, to operate, secure, and improve the Service. This does not include using your text to train machine-learning models.
7. Our intellectual property
We and our licensors own all right, title, and interest in and to the Service and everything that makes it up, including its software, source code, algorithms, machine-learning models and weights, user interfaces, “look and feel”, documentation, and the Adduce name and logo, together with all related intellectual-property rights worldwide, whether registered or not (copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, patents, and database rights). The Service is licensed to you, not sold.
Reservation of rights. These Terms grant you only the limited rights expressly set out in them. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by us and our licensors. No right or licence is granted by implication, estoppel, or otherwise.
Trademarks. “Adduce”, the Adduce logo, and our other names and marks are our trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written permission, except to refer to the Service accurately and fairly.
8. Licence and restrictions
Subject to these Terms and your payment of any applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your own internal business or personal purposes. For the downloadable Adduce tool, this licence lets you install and run the then-current version on devices you own or control.
You must not, and must not permit anyone else to:
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, model weights, or underlying structure or ideas of the Service, except to the limited extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- copy, modify, translate, or create derivative works of the Service or its documentation, in whole or in part;
- rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, distribute, host, or otherwise make the Service available to any third party, except as expressly permitted in these Terms;
- remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices, trademarks, or attributions on or in the Service;
- use the Service, its output, or its documentation to build, train, or improve a competing product or service, or for any competitive analysis or benchmarking, without our prior written consent;
- access the Service by automated means, such as scraping, crawling, or harvesting, other than through the documented API, or in any way that circumvents its rate limits, usage caps, or access controls.
Any use of the Service outside the scope of this licence is unauthorised and is a breach of these Terms.
9. Feedback
If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas about the Service (“Feedback”), you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully sublicensable and transferable licence to use, reproduce, modify, and otherwise exploit that Feedback for any purpose, including to develop and improve the Service, without any obligation, attribution, or compensation to you. Feedback is not your confidential information.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its findings are complete or correct. A claim reported as backed, or as needing a source, is a machine assessment and not a statement of fact by us.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, or if we are required to by law. On termination, the rights and licences granted to you under these Terms end immediately, and you must stop using the Service and delete any copies of the downloadable tool in your possession. We may delete your account data in line with our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including those on our intellectual property, feedback, disclaimers, and limitation of liability, continue to apply.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Questions about these Terms can be sent to legal@adduce.dev.
